Bee Smart - Bee Future

In order to live up to our claim to entrepreneurial sustainability and responsibility our young executives address the preservation of biodiversity under the motto Bee Smart - Bee Future“. The projects aims to sensitize the public to biodiversity, species conservation and bee mortality as well as setting up and managing our very own beehives in cooperation with the Graf Eberhard Gymnasium in Bad Urach. In this way we not only want to raise long-lasting awareness for the aforementioned topics but also add a small contribution to the conservation of biodiversity in the Ermstal. In the weeks and months to come the young executives will inform about their project progress and findings on this homepage.

Timeline

4th November, 2019 And here it is! The design of the label and the labeling of the jars was done in collaboration with our marketing department. Only a few days left to become our sponsor and to get a limited jar of our honey!

5th October, 2019 The honey jars: In the meantime we have been filling our honey into the final honey jars. The next step is the labeling of the jars. Stay tuned!

31st July, 2019 The first harvest of honey: Today we collected our first harvest of honey together with Mr. Zahn, teacher and head of the sustainability club at the Graf-Eberhard-Gymnasium.

After we got rid of the wax, we started with the centrifugation process to extract the honey.

22nd July, 2019 On the move for the good cause: Our bees have been working hard around Dettingen for a couple of weeks now. In doing so they have been on the move for the good cause in two ways. Through their pollination of about 80% of all plants they actively contribute to the protection of species. Thereby they are collecting honey in order to support our fundraising project for the Graf-Eberhard-Gymnasium.

17th June, 2019 Move in of bees: Roughly 100.000 bees moved into their new homes and got to work immediately. Today we relocated our bees successfully into their new homes close to Dettingen. Honeycomb by honeycomb have the bees been shipped under the guidance of professional beekeepers. During the shipping process we’ve been screening each honeycomb in order to identify the queen bee – not that easy if you consider the thousands of bees! Can you find her in the attached picture? Tip: the queen bee has been marked in color. The color code shows the age of the queen bee.

6th June, 2019 Setup of beehives: Our new beehives just arrived! Today we set our new beehives up together with students and teachers of the ‘sustainability club’ of the Graf-Eberhard-Gymnasium, a local college/high school that partners with us.
