With Metaloseal™ speciality gaskets as well as metal-elastomer and elastomer speciallity gaskets, ElringKlinger provides suitable product solutions for a variety of sealing tasks in the engine, transmission, exhaust system and auxiliary units, such as compressors and pumps. Both the design and the materials used are tailored precisely to the specific requirements.
Fail-safe performance is essential when it comes to modern sealing systems, they guarantee a reliable sealing various media (oil, coolant, fuels, fuel gases) both from the outside as well as in relation to each other. Furthermore they act as power transmissions elements between engine components while performing significant additional functions.
One of the major advantages of this highly effective sealing system is that it can be deployed within virtually any area of application - whether engine, transmission, exhaust system or auxiliary unit. Its enormous versatility stems from the use of metallic carrier materials substrates and elastomer materials, which can be combined in various ways to produce outstanding results. What is more, specialty gaskets can be designed to include additional functions.
In response to ever stricter emission standards around the globe, automobile manufacturers and suppliers are focusing increasingly on engine downsizing and aftertreatment cleaning systems. Within these areas, the demands placed on components in terms of sealing capability are significant. Metaloseal™ exhaust gaskets have been designed to withstand the highest possible thermo-mechanical stresses and deliver a high-end sealing performance together with outstanding durability even at temperatures of 1,100°C – for maximum reliability.
Both of these high-end ElringKlinger sealing systems – with and without metal carriers – offer operational reliability and efficiency even in extreme conditions - proven in millions of gaskets sold worldwide. We develop and produce our own elastomer materials, thereby ensuring superior quality.
In order to reduce weight and rein back costs, modern-day engine technology relies increasingly on components and assemblies made of high-performance plastics. The result: reduced component stiffness and the associated increased deformations, which occur during distortion and must be compensated for by the sealing system. Regardless of the area of application, we will determine the best possible elastomer gasket design to suite your requirements.
(Development project) The development of efficient SCR exhaust aftertreatment systems (SCR = Selective Catalytic Reduction) is of particular importance when it comes to meeting ever stricter emission standards – 2014, for instance, sees the introduction of Euro 6. The key components are the injection module, the flange adapter and the mixer.
The ElringKlinger-developed CleanNox system facilitates optimum processing of the injected urea solution, which neutralizes the nitrogen oxides into nitrogen and water. Special SCR engine testing facilities are used during application development in order to ensure the perfect interplay of all components.
