Cylinder-head gaskets: our seal of excellence

As an essential component of modern-day engines, cylinder-head gaskets are responsible for ensuring maximum efficiency and reliability. Cylinder-head gaskets are designed to prevent leakage of combustion gases, coolant and engine oil. Acting as a power transmission link between the cylinder head and the crankcase, this gasket also has a considerable influence on the distribution of forces within the entire distortion system and the resulting elastic component deformations.

Metaloflex™ cylinder-head gaskets for passenger cars

In developing Metaloflex™, we have established ourselves as the world's leading manufacturer of metal layer steel (MLS) cylinder-head gaskets. Launched onto the European market at the beginning of the 1990s, this sealing system has emerged as the undisputed champion when it comes to passenger car applications.

Metaloflex™ consists of beaded, elastomer-coated spring steel layers – single-layer or multilayer, depending on the application. Owing to its modular structure, with the coating, beading and stoppers as key functional elements, this cylinder-head gasket can be tailored to the specific requirements of the engine.

Metal-elastomer cylinder-head gaskets for commercial vehicles

This sealing system consists of a metal carier with molded on elastomer profiles. It is used primarily in commercial vehicle engines equipped with a turbocharger and intercooler. Even at an ignition pressure of up to 250 bar, engine performance in excess of 2,000 kW and an engine service life of more than 1.5 million kilometers, ElringKlinger's metal-elastomer cylinder-head gaskets ensure a perfectly tight seal.
