Education

Trained as a state-certified chemical-technical assistant and qualified to study at German universities of applied sciences. Subsequently graduated as Dipl.-Ing. (FH) in general chemistry and plastics at Reutlingen Technical and Commercial University of Applied Sciences.

Professional career

Karl Schmauder began his career in 1982 as a production engineer with the former Elring. By 1994 he had performed various roles and held positions in the development, production technology, production planning and tool manufacture divisions. From 1994 to 1997 Mr. Schmauder was head of Industrial Engineering. In 1997 he established and managed the Elastomer Technology/Modules division. In addition he assumed responsibility in 2000 for the Cylinder-head Gasket division and Research and Development. From July to December 2002, Mr. Schmauder worked as Managing Director of subsidiary company ElringKlinger Sealing Systems, Inc. in Ontario, Canada.

Karl Schmauder was appointed to the Management Board of ElringKlinger AG in 2005 and is currently responsible for Original Equipment Sales and New Business Areas.
